Advantages
There are definite advantages to using veClient from the perspective of both senders and receivers.
ADVANTAGES TO SENDERS
- veClient is time efficient when compared to conventional means of mailing letters of evaluation. No longer will you spend hours photocopying letters and stuffing envelopes.
- You can post letters to veClient for many receiving schools including:
-AMCAS schools that use the AMCAS Letter system
-AMCAS schools that do not use the AMCAS Letter system (except for the U of Puerto Rico)
-The University of North Dakota School of Medicine (does not use AMCAS)
-TMDSAS schools
-DO Schools (except Michigan State Sollege of Osteopathic Medicine)
-Selected optometry schools
-Selected podiatry schools - The annual fee for using the veClient is reasonable–$100 to access the system and $10 per applicant record, regardless of the number of schools to which he/she is applying. A portion of the fees paid by advisors who use veClient goes to NAAHP.
- No more lost letters. Once a PDF containing the applicant’s letters has been uploaded to veClient, the health professions schools to which the applicant is applying have access to that PDF (either directly or through the common application service) until the system is purged at the end of the cycle. If letters are misplaced, they can be downloaded again from veClient without having to request that the advisor re-send the letters.
- A side benefit of using the veClient is that by scanning letters and saving them in PDF format, advisors have an electronic archive of letters for applicants that can be stored on our own server and/or backed up on CD. This may decrease the amount of filing space you need in your office for hard copy files.
- Most health professions schools have moved or are planning to move to an electronic process for storing information on applicants for use in evaluating the applicants. It is more efficient for them to receive letters already in electronic format, either directly or through their common application service. This will shorten the time it takes for an applicant’s file to become complete which could be beneficial to the applicant.
- veClient provides a reporting feature that will allows you to download lists of your applicants with appropriate information included.
ADVANTAGES TO RECEIVERS
Rapid, secure transmission of letters of evaluation from sending schools, i.e., health professions advisors at colleges, universities, and post bac programs. Please note that some receiving schools download letters directly from veClient. In other cases, a common application service downloads letters from veClient and makes them available to the indvidual schools to which the applicant is applying. TMDSAS downloads letters for their participating schools. AMCAS downloads letters for those AMCAS schools who are using the AMCAS Letter System.
- Letters from senders using veClient are received in an electronic format, relieving you of the need to scan those letters if you use an electronic system or are moving to an electronic system.
- No more lost letters. If, for some reason, you need to download another copy of letters for an applicant, you can just go back into veClient and do that (if your school downloads directly from veClient).
- Schools that download letters directly from veClient can download PDF’s of letters individually by applicant or can use a batch download process to download PDF’s as a batch and save them automatically to the correct applicant records on your own system.
- If you prefer to print the letters for your applicants, we have made it simple for you to batch print them.
- We provide a reporting feature that will allow you to download lists of your applicants with appropriate information included.
